The winner has been playing poker for a number of years since he took it up as a hobby after retiring from police work to fill up some of his free time. He said his wife has always been telling him to pursue the game and it appears as if her advice has hugely paid off.

According to Mike there are a number of things that allowed him to beat some of the greatest poker players around. He said it took patience, people reading skills abut also some great luck and a number of good cards, he said that poker cannot be won simply on skill it also requires good cards in order to end up a winner.

Since winning Mike said that, "I still haven't come down since that day [in early December]," Kosowski said. "It was an amazing experience all together. … Everyday you wake up it's like Groundhog Day and you can't believe what you did. It's just amazing." Mike went on to say that he intends to donate some of the money to a number of charities.

Negreanu praised Mike’s playing and said that he thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the tournament.

Kisowski entered the competition as one of sixteen thousand players that wanted a chance to play one of the poker greats. He said that he had tried to study Negreanu’s play before hand and had also read many of the books that Daniel wrote.
